What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files saved and stored on your computer, tablet, or smartphone when you visit various websites. A cookie typically contains the name of the website from which it originates, its “lifespan” (i.e., how long it will remain on your device), and a unique, randomly generated number used to identify your browser when it connects to the website.
1. Use of Cookies on the Website
In connection with the delivery of the website content, the Klepsydra web service uses cookies—i.e., information stored by servers on the user’s end device, which may be read upon each subsequent connection from that device. Other technologies with similar or identical functionality to cookies may also be used. In this document, all such technologies are referred to as “cookies.”
Cookies are IT data, particularly text files, stored on the user’s end device and typically contain the domain name of the website they originate from, the time they are stored on the device, and a unique identifier.
2. Purpose of Using Cookies
Cookies are used for the following purposes:
- To adapt website content to user preferences and optimize the use of the website; in particular, cookies allow for the recognition of a user’s device and the appropriate display of the website in a manner tailored to their individual needs.
- To generate statistics that help understand how users interact with the website, which aids in improving its structure and content.
- To maintain a user’s session after logging in, so they do not need to re-enter their login and password on each subpage.
- To provide users with advertising content more suited to their interests.
3. Types of Cookies Used on the Klepsydra Website
The following types of cookies may be used:
- “Essential” cookies – necessary for the operation of services available on the website, e.g., authentication cookies required for login-based services.
- Security cookies – used to detect authentication abuses.
- Analytical cookies – enable collection of information on how users navigate the website.
- “Functional” cookies – allow user preferences to be remembered, such as language, region, font size, and site appearance.
- “Advertising” cookies – allow delivery of advertising content more closely aligned with the user’s interests.
4. Managing Cookies
By default, most web browsers allow cookies to be stored on the user’s device. Users can change their cookie settings at any time, including to block cookies automatically or receive notifications before a cookie is stored. Detailed information on cookie management can be found in the browser’s settings.
Failure to change cookie settings means cookies will be stored on the user’s device and we will be able to access this data.
5. Disabling Cookies
Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some services provided on our websites, particularly those requiring login. However, disabling cookies does not prevent viewing public content on the BONGO website, except for areas requiring authentication.
6. Third-Party Use of Cookies
Cookies may be placed on users’ end devices by BONGO’s website and used by third parties such as advertisers, research firms, and multimedia application providers cooperating with the service.
